In practice to mine efficiently, you need 18.723.668 Gemstone powder, or about 18.5m + 1.4m to upgrade Core of the Mountain. and for max skyblock xp you need 20m mithril powder. So this is a guide to make the Boring grind, a little less boring by giving you the best way to spend as little time possible mining hardstone.
Setup
We recommend not starting the Gemstone powder grind until you are at least HOTM 7. To get that, look at our guide for for HOTM exp. In this Gemstone guide, we are going to mine in the Crystal Hollows.
You need to get the following:
Jungle Pickaxe and a Jasper Drill X or just the Jasper Drill. anyhow you need to get the Fleet reforge, that you get from Diamonite, on the tool you're going to mine with. You also need to get the Spicy Goblin Omelette, as the upgrade module in your drill.
Mineral Armor or Glossy Mineral Armor, depends on how many coins you have. The reforge doesn't really matter, but if you have the coins, you might aswell put Jaded on your armor set. You get the Jaded reforge from Jaderald.
Armadillo PetLvl 100 or a Scatha PetLvl 100 but since the Scatha pet is a little expensive, we recommend using the Armadillo pet unless you have the coins to spare.
As for attributes you need to max the Atomized Crystals attribute from Thyst Shard.
As for the HOTM tree, the most important perk is the Great Explorer Perk. Once you have that maxed you can get the Powder Buff perk and max that, and last but not least, you will put the next 6.6m Gemstone Powder in the Mole perk. Once you have done that, you have a optimal Gemstone powder setup.
You have 2 Options as to where you choose to mine. The first option is if you are an Ironman player, i would recommend mining in the jungle sector of the Crystal Hollows. Here you are going to be mining Hard Stone with your Jungle Pickaxe, and then swiching to your Jasper Drill X when opening the treasure chests you have spawned, to get the extra Gemstone powder %. The reason we are mining with a Jungle Pickaxe, is to get Sludge Juice that you need for Gemstone Mixture later on. Make sure to have enough mining speed to insta mine the Hard Stone with your Jungle Pickaxe.
The second option is to use your Jasper Drill X in the Precursor Remnants sector of the Crystal Hollows. Again you are going to be mining Hard Stone and opening the treasure chests you have spawned.
The only event you care about, is the 2x powder event, for the obvious reason.
